Pueblo Academy of Arts is a Title I School What does that mean for me? It means that we receive Federal Funding (approximately $360,000 for the 2017-2018 school year) to support our students. Basically, Title I focuses on promoting school-wide reforms in high-poverty schools, and ensuring stuents' access to scientifically-based instructional strategies and challenging academic content. How is that money spent? We use it to purchase technology for students to use, academic and art materials, professional development for our staff, and we are able to have extra staff to support leadership skills and provide additional support for our students. What else does it mean? It means that parents have the right to request information on teacher's qualifications including their state licensing criteria, their status, their certification, content areas, and the certifications of paraprofessionals, etc. How can parents be involved? Parents can attend our Title I Nights, student performances, and participate in our Student-led conferences. Parents are always welcome to visit or volunteer at PAA (volunteers must pass a background check). Parents can also have input into our School Unified Improvement Plan and our Title I Compact. Parents Right To Know: Parents of all children in all Title I schools have the right to request and receive timely information on the professional qualifications of their children's classroom teachers.
