Discussions with your student that involve reflection and goal-setting are great family activities to engage in this coming weekend.

The event celebrates all District 60 schools and our students’ collective efforts to focus on peace and prevent bullying in our schools. The event includes several of our community partners who share these same goals. PAA will have a table, to showcase some of the great things we do at Pueblo Academy of Arts to ensure a positive community. Students are encouraged to show up wearing your purple and silver.

As always, I appreciate your time and attention. Have a great evening.

Good Afternoon Pueblo Academy of Arts Families,

This is Mr. Farias with the weekly update. It is our goal to get back 100% of the Family Economic Surveys that many students received last week. These forms are due on Tuesday, October 1st in the main office. If you received one of these forms, please take a few minutes to complete it and have it returned to school. The funding from these forms help support your students at Pueblo Academy of Arts. If you received one and cannot find it, please come to the building to use our computers to sign up online. Staff are waiting to assist you.

All students with perfect attendance in the month of September had their names entered into a drawing for a chance to win a prize. Prizes include several personal electronic devices and we will hold these drawings tomorrow, on Monday. Remember, those that attend today, achieve tomorrow! Please be sure to have your students to school on time all day, every day.

Thursday, our MATHCOUNTS student group will practice again beginning at 4:30. We had a large number of talented students show up to participate last week. We are excited to have a strong group this year and are still seeking interested students to join.

Also, this Thursday we will be allowing students to participate in a $2 jeans day. This fundraising activity will raise funds that will be used to increase a positive school climate and positive behavior incentives for the student body. Students are allowed to wear jeans that have no decals, no holes/tears, and no decorations for $2 on Thursday. All clothing must adhere to school and district expectations.

Students will also be allowed to wear a Pueblo Academy of Arts spirit shirt on Thursday. There is no charge for wearing a PAA spirit shirt or PAA jersey on this day. We love that our students show pride in their school and in themselves!

Thank you for your time and attention. Have a great evening.

Good Afternoon Pueblo Academy of Arts Families,

This is Mr. Farias with the weekly update. We thank you all for your efforts this past week to get your students to school on time, well rested, and ready for learning. We have also noticed, and suggest, that students bring a clear water bottle filled with cold water. This is a great practice to help your student stay hydrated on these hot days. Students have already started taking their beginning of year benchmark assessments and will continue to do so this week. Good sleep and hydrated bodies will help them on these exams and throughout the school day.

This year we are focused on increasing student attendance at PAA. Students that attend today, achieve tomorrow! Please be sure to make every effort to have your student(s) to school on time, every day, all day. Although we are proud of our 94% attendance rate last week, our goal is to have a daily attendance rate of 95% or better. Let’s keep working at it!

Lastly, we want to inform all families that School Bus Route #30 has adjusted their schedule to ensure students arrive to school on time and that they are dropped off at a more accurate time in the afternoon. This new schedule will take effect beginning on Tuesday, August 27th. This new schedule will be updated on our school website and will be available for your reference by the end of the day Monday. Again, this change to Bus Route #30 will not take effect until the morning of Tuesday, August 27th. Feel free to contact the main office at 549-7430 with any questions.

Thank you for your time and attention. Have a good evening.

Good Afternoon Pueblo Academy of Arts Families,

This is Mr. Farias with the weekly update. On Monday, we will be hosting our 6th Grade WEB Orientation. This event is only for 6th grade students and select WEB leaders. The event will take place from 8:30 - 3:30pm at PAA. There will be no busses running on this day, so parents will have to drop off and pick up their students. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Students are expected to wear their PAA uniforms for the WEB Orientation. 6th grade students should not bring backpacks or school supplies on Monday. Once again, parents should plan to promptly pick up their students at 3:30pm.

Tuesday will be our first day with all students. School busses will be running this day and school will run its regular daily schedule from 8:30-4:20pm. All students are expected to be in their school uniforms beginning the first day of school.

Due to the heat and high temperatures, we encourage all students to bring a clear water bottle with them to school so that they can remain well hydrated throughout the day. Remember, only clear water bottles are to be carried and they may only carry water. Sports drinks, energy drinks, soda, or any other type of beverage is not allowed.

Softball tryouts and official practice begin on Monday, August 19th. Practice will be held on the PAA softball field from 4:30-6:00pm. Students interested in trying out for the softball team must have all required paperwork turned in to the main office to be cleared to participate. Any student missing any paperwork, especially a valid physical exam on file, will not be able to participate in any way during tryouts and practice.

We are excited to see all our Phoenix back at school this week!
