Six named to Pueblo Softball Hall of Fame

Induction ceremony is June 1

Six softball superstars from yesteryear have been selected for induction into the Pueblo Softball Hall of Fame.

The class of 2018 was announced Tuesday and includes three players who will be honored posthumously.

All will be recognized during the annual Santos Memorial Tournament on May 25 at Bessmer Park and at the hall of fame’s induction ceremony during its annual banquet on June 1 at the Southern Colorado Gaming & Event Center. Tickets for the banquet go on sale May 1at Big Daddy’s Sunset Bowl, 1227 Prairie Ave. Cost is $25.

Now in its 10th year, the hall! of fame has enshrined 66 people who made their mark on the sport. Twenty-two of its members also are members of the Greater Pueblo Sports Association Hall of Fame.

Pat McGraw:
McGraw remains on the local and state sports scene working as a meet director and starter at track and field meets throughout the state. He first came on the Pueblo sports scene as a high school standout in several sports. He attended then-Southern Colorado State College where he became one of the school’s top middle-distance ! runners under legendary track-and-field head coach Jim "Spank" Blasing. He proved equally talented on the softball field as a player who could play any position but most prominent as a pitcher and catcher. Following his playing days, McGraw built a distinguished reputation as a high school football and college basketball official. These days he has worked the state high school track and field championships meet.
